WienMobil Station macht Schule

Öffi-Stationen leichter erreichbar machen

WienMobil Station : Next Steps

2 new sites and 100 to come

Already on 2 September 2020, two additional WienMobil stations (WMS) were opened. The WMS in Amerlingstraße in Mariahilf and at Ceija-Stojka-Platz in Neubau complement the existing locations in Ottakring, Landstraße and Simmering.

At all WienMobil stations, Vienna’s citizens can rent city bikes, e-scooters, car-sharing and e-gas stations in addition to the underground, trams and buses.  „The WienMobil stations are an important offer of the climate model city to overcome the so-called „last mile“ between work or home and the nearest public transport station. With flexible sharing offers of the Wiener Linien, the Viennese are reducing individual traffic.

Public transport drivers save costs for their own car and at the same time save 1.5 tons of CO2 per year“, said Ulli Sima, city councillor for environment and public transport, at the opening of the new station in the 6th district. All bikes, scooters and sharing cars are visible in the WienMobil smartphone app and can be booked directly via the respective mobility providers.

Climate Council with first meeting: 100 new WienMobil stations

On 21 and 22 September 2020, representatives from science, business and NGOs as well as the city administration met at the city hall as part of the Climate Council to discuss the challenges of climate protection. The main focus was on energy and transport.

Making public transport stations easier to reach

In his summary, Mayor Michael Ludwig (SPÖ) mentioned, among other things, the need for additional mobility solutions. Wiener Linien could not cover all needs. One hundred mobility stations are to offer solutions for the „last mile“, especially in the urban districts.
